Tug on hawser

bom dia. oque seria tug on hawser ? e somente hawser ? vejo bastantes casos que tratam com sendo rebocador com cabo longo outros rebocador na busina, estou muito confuso a respeito dessa espreção se alguem poder me ajudar obrigado.

Hawser is a nautical term for a thick cable or rope used in mooring or towing a ship.
Da definição acima se percebe que hawser pode ser tanto a amarra, quanto os cabos especificamente utilizados para o reboque.
Particularmente acredito que o termo seja mais aplicado somente aos casos de reboque, pois é bem comum vermos nos livros os autores se referirem às amarras como mooring lines, ou seja, o tug on a hawser seria o rebocador realizando o reboque amarrado ou fastened.

Tug on a hawser = Cabo longo
TUG ON A HAWSER
As Shottel and Voith-Schneider tugs become more widely used, there will be a corresponding increase in the amount of
hawser work. These tugs are designed to be used on a
hawser, having winches that are properly located relative to the tug's pivot point so they can work safely in this manner.
There are occasions when a conventional harbor tug can be put on a
hawser, most commonly when handling a dead ship or a ship with such a light draft that it is not possible to make up alongside. In this case, keep the ship's speed and the use of the ship's engines to a minimum to avoid getting the harbor tug in irons, abeam the
hawser, and rolling her over.
